Selling to make money on eBay can be extremely profitable once you know what you are doing and have established your own products and eBay shop. But for new eBay sellers, there are some things you need to know before you get started in order to make money on eBay.
Make money on eBay by knowing your product. You need to research exactly what you are going to sell on eBay. Think of the things that interest you and that you are good at. You can make money on eBay by becoming a great source for a particular kind of item which will give you a huge advantage and will definitely get you ahead of the competition. Customers who are interested in your unique line of products will develop loyalty to your eBay shop and will come back to you again and again. If you want to make money on eBay and decide to sell a unique product, this will gain you loyalty from your customers as they know exactly where they can buy this normally hard to find item.
Make money on eBay by selling what you know! It will be easier for you to write descriptions and you will be sure that you are selling your product for the right price. Some sellers who make money on eBay sell their products at a very low price but sell huge quantities. On the other hand some sellers who make money on eBay sell their goods at a much higher price and sell fewer. However, price is always an important factor if you are to make money on eBay because it drives the buyers. A very low price will attract more customers but won’t give you the best profit. Selling too high will just drive your customers away and you won’t make money on eBay. Customers always go for the best deals but they will also take into account the price, guarantees and shipping times.
So, to make money on ebay, you need to pick the products that you are interested in and which you think will sell well on eBay. You need to create new interest with a great product that you can describe well and offer at a great price but fair enough to allow you to make money on eBay.
Once you have found the right products and listed them well at the right price, you will make money on eBay easily. Simply add related products to your inventory all the time. This will give your loyal buyers the chance to purchase extras or other unique items when they return to your eBay shop. It is often the ‘extras’ or the ‘cross-sales’ that allow you to really make money on eBay as they can make a big difference to your income!
To make money on eBay successfully it’s all about getting it absolutely right from the start, doing it properly and building your products and reputation. Do it right and you WILL make money on eBay!

You actually have a lot of opportunities to make money with the amount of investment you have. I would look into home based business opportunities. Most cost under $500 to start. I created a blog on my Yahoo 360 page blog on different home based business opportunities for both online as well as offline businesses. There are over half a dozen different industries to take a look at. A lot of information on my blog about scams and what to look for, businesses and the bbb as well as many other things you should read and learn about.
My husband and I have had our home based business in the telecommunications industry since 2001. Our business includes both online as well as off line marketing. Pretty simple to do from home and the income is incredible. Businesses takes time to build. They do not happen over night. Most successful business takes anywhere from 3 to 5 years to build on an average. Some people have done it in less, but normally that is the time frame. That does not mean you won't make a sufficient amount of income prior to that. I just mean a successful business meaning that the income rapidly increases as each month comes and goes. Not meaning you wouldn't make anything before. Just the profit margin increases on a consistant bases. Understand? Here's my URL to my Yahoo blog that will give you a lot of information about starting a business as well as a few industries to look into.

You can also read about many success stories from friends of mine who are in the same industry, as well as hear what Donald Trump has to say about our company. He is very involved in our company and you can learn alot from him. You can take a look at http://tiffanyvague.acnrep.com

Money orders are not the best to use doing transactions over the internet. Too many scams have made people vary. Using an online banking system or Visa/Mastercard/checking/debit card is your best bet. Have a virtual wallet like Paypal helps, but finding stores accepting PayPal is a task. I know Walmart.com accepts PayPal as well as hundreds of other merchants.

Most buyers prefer to pay with paypal. Do you have a paypal account? Why don't you use the "contact buyer" option and send them a message asking them how they'd like to pay? They might send you a money order if you'd rather have one of those. Where it says "waiting for payment from buyer", there SHOULD maybe be a drop down menu. Look for "contact buyer" and send them that message.

Make sure you request a postal money order or a bank money order and don't ship until you have it in hand. A bank or postal money order is a guarantee of payment.
