The bread and butter of any business whether online or free standing is the marketing end of it – keeping up with the current trends and then pricing and profitability, how to make a product stand out from the rest. What makes your diamond necklace better than the next? To make money on eBay it is important to know why a consumer purchases yours and not the one listed right below it. Terapeak offers its users a tool that automatically tracks the trends of the buyers on eBay.
The phenomenon of knowing what people are actually interested in and placing bids on is really just a click away with this software. The “hot list” is a great place to start. This feature of the program lets its users know all of this information without any extensive research. It is already done for you and updated frequently keeping you in the now.
The “hot list” is created based on a couple of key factors in order for a category to be considered a hot category: First, it must exceed twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) in sales over the course of thirty days; second, it must have a minimum of seven hundred bids over the thirty days. The category will only make the “hot list” when both of these areas have been achieved.
The “hot list” is an exceptional tool for the users of the software who want to make money on eBay. It could take months of research to figure out these numbers. And what is great about it is that it is updated on a monthly basis. This will free up hours of time enabling users to focus on other important aspects of the business such as keeping the product ordered. The numbers that are shown are ratios based on the previous thirty days. Currently eBay has restrictions on this area. They will not allow Terapeak to show raw numbers. This may change in the future, but remains uncertain.
Other areas that make Terapeak’s Market Research attractive are the “price bucket” feature, the “Search Totals, Ratios, and Feature Efficiency”, usage and sell-through rates and usage and success rate.
* The “Price Bucket” is a chart that shows its users the most current going rates of different products.
* The usage and sell-through rates feature highlights top rated items based numbers sold to the consumer. This feature will allow Terapeak users to browse quickly through possible items to invest in.
* The “Search Totals, Ratios, and Feature Efficiency” browses the most current previous thirty days of eBay sales, showing users percentages of sales of items, and categories in general.
* The usage and success rate shows the length of time of the item (how long it was listed for before it was actually bid on and then sold). This area will help with inventory control. Having items for a length of time without activity can stress profitability.
Terapeak’s Market Research tracks a broad range of items from books to cameras, home and garden to sporting goods. The enhanced tracking system will allow those who want to make money on eBay to stay above the trends ensuring success.

The power sellers make money on some listings and lose on some. Also, they sign up for premium accounts that allow them to list for longer for less.

Some sellers sell hot items and make only $10-$20 per item but sell a lot of items every day. Others only sell a few low-demand items each week but make a lot on each.
You need to find items cheaper or more of them, preferably both.

A very profitable way is to search around for really good sales. Buy cheap, sell for more $$. I sometimes go to the Coach Outlet about 45 min from my home. Last time, I purchased 8 handbags for a really good deal, and sold almost every single one of them for almost double. You can even be put on a list sometimes, to be contacted when the really big sale(s) hit.

Its tough to make money on ebay because thre are so many sellers.
You have to sell in volume and make at least $2.00 on shipping.
The best items to sell are free items.
1) Print up business cards,
2)Goto yard sales and tell them you will buy what's leftover for $5.00 or haul it away and charge them money.
3) buy items from goodwill & salvation army
4) sell all those free and cheap items on ebay with no reserve.
If they only pay you a penny you make money on shipping.
Good Luck

There's various methods to make money on eBay.
One way for you as a WAHM would be to consider dropshipping. Minimal investment, just takes a little time at home to get it setup. It's where you don't handle any products or inventory.
How it works:
You simply find a credible supplier and you act as their middleman. The supplier gives you a wholesale price, you mark up the price and promote it on eBay. When a customer makes a payment for this product you listed, you funnel payment to the supplier and they ship it for you, typically under your name! The difference between what the customer paid you and what you send to the supplier is your earnings! Make sure whatever niche products you decide to dropship, that the market isn't too saturated.
